This policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit the StationWeather website (stationweather.com) and when you use the StationWeather app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.

The website

Our website is a static information site. It does not use tracking cookies, advertising or web analytics, it has no user accounts, and it does not run a comment system or contact forms. The only way to contact us from the site is by email.

Server log files

When you load the site, our hosting provider in Germany automatically processes technical information that your browser transmits — such as your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referrer and your browser and operating system. This data is used to deliver the site reliably and securely and to detect and prevent misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log data is stored only as long as necessary for these purposes.

Web fonts

This site uses the Inter font, which is hosted on our own server. The font files are delivered together with the rest of the site; no request is made to Google Fonts or any other third party, and no data is transmitted to them for this purpose.

Contact by email

If you email us, we process the data you provide (such as your email address and message) solely to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR. We keep this correspondence only as long as needed to answer you and to meet any legal retention obligations.

The StationWeather app

The app is designed to keep your data on your device wherever possible.

  • Location: if you grant permission, your device location is used to find nearby weather stations and to show local weather. It is processed to provide the feature and is not used to track you.
  • Calendar: if you grant permission, the app reads flight or roster entries from your device calendar to build flight briefings automatically. This is processed on your device; we do not upload your calendar.
  • Weather requests: to retrieve reports, the airport or station identifiers you look up are sent to the weather data services we rely on so the relevant data can be returned.
  • Subscriptions: StationWeather Pro is sold through the Apple App Store. Payments and subscription management are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; we do not receive your payment details.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise any of these rights, contact info@stationweather.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Data security

We use administrative, technical and physical security measures to help protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the website, the app or legal requirements. The current version is always available on this page.
